“We had no choice but to go back to work,” Hamoud said. “We did the same job as before. Except we were now serving a terrorist group.”https://nyti.ms/2GKVy2v

The world knows ISIS for its brutality, but the militants did not rule by the sword alone. They wielded power through 2 complementary tools: brutality and bureaucracy.https://nyti.ms/2v1Kpsm

Thousands of internal ISIS documents unearthed by The Times reveal how ISIS built a state of administrative efficiency. They also help explain how ISIS stayed in power so long. https://nyti.ms/2GHHQ4b pic.twitter.com/3tpHhtFeMd

The documents, taken together, show that ISIS, if only for a finite amount of time, realized its dream: to establish its own state, run according to its strict interpretation of Islam.https://nyti.ms/2HkqZSn

We saw this same pattern with the Taliban as well. Once we Americans left, leaving behind a war-battered and destroyed country and no Marshall Plan to rebuild, extreme criminals moved in. And we did more or less nothing to stop them. We never learn from our mistakes.

This is disheartening & it’s surely a test of faith & will to go back to work when it feels as if it’s hell on earth. I truly feel Revelations has started & w/Iran & N Korea wanting nuclear weapons & Russia threatening new weapons it seems as if prophecy is true. God help us...
