You left out how we transferred our manufacturing jobs there, developed a $500 billion trade deficit, how they steal IP and tech, and their 2025 plan.
-
The US didn't decide to transfer jobs, employment is cheaper there. 400 billion, not 500 but that is also caused by their cheaper employment. They are building for their future? What a weird thing for a country to do. Tariffs can work if we supplement steel/alum production here.
-
It doesn't matter how or why it happened, it had an effect and set the stage. Leaders didn't properly calculate how to counter the effects. They later gave in to letting tech be stolen once the wheels you mention were in motion. Here we are.
-
Hard to say if Trump is doing the right thing. In the context of stolen tech and China's 2025 plan, he probably is.
-
Gary Cohn quit before allowing this to happen while he was in the WH. A lot of US companies have come out and asked Trump to stop doing this. Over 100 Republicans from the house sent a letter asking him to stop. We don't have the Steel/Alum production in the US for this.
-
Those are the exact people, or types of people, who let the problem exist, what do you expect them to do? Maybe it's not a big deal if they continue to steal tech, maybe the singularity will come early around 2030 and none of this will matter.

I've been to China, they need our pork & soybeans. They import very few cars from the USA.
