If u truly understood what police officers deal with on a daily basis, there would be little to no hate for them. They don’t have time to react and determine if someone is mentally ill. If an object is pointed at you, they assume it is a weapon and act accordingly.

If the sight of a black person carrying literally any object makes you feel for your life, maybe being a police officer isn't the best line of work for you.

I've had army buddies whose ROE meant they couldn't shoot someone for having a gun, or pointing it, or firing it; they had to be firing directly at them before they could engage. If that kind of care can be taken with enemy combatants, the cops can do the same for citizens.

The incident is unfortunate but people need to put themselves in the officers position. You approach a scene and a individual points something that looks like a gun at you. Are going to shoot the threat or continue to look long enough for you to be shot instead? #think

Totally agree with you. Cops and first responders don’t have the luxury of second guessing the situation because they don’t have all the info, context, and time. Unfortunate that someone died, but let this be a lesson to all involved.

That’s not how Police Officers are trained. They are taught to eliminate the threat. Empty their clip. If they believe their lives are in danger, they have the authority to use lethal force.

Overkill. Literally. The police should be trained better to react. It’s s tough job, but they’ve got to do it right. Their training should be lengthy and very detailed. This man should have been hit with tasers, not shot ten times.

Taser vs gun is idiotic and puts everyone nearby in danger . Educate yourself on how a taser works .

Not entirely How many people of color try to turn themselves in to police ? Even while acting drunk or crazy and what neighborhood do you live in makes a diff

I would have to imagine the luxury of turning yourself into the police is not one that anyone in the lower classes have regardless of race. These are complicated issues that won’t fix itself until ALL sides are honest and willing to fix issues.
