President Trump says foreign workers on H-1B visas take jobs away from Americans. Employers say they fill a labor shortage. Who's right?https://nyti.ms/2Eo1xIv

So they can come here & not contribute? Isn't that a waste of MY tax dollars? Damn shame. Indian community is about the hardest working I know.

That’s exactly our argument, instead of being a liability we want to contribute to the growth of this economy. We bring along a culture of hard work, sincerity and lawful behavior. Our community’s record reflects that.

This is f***ing crazy. First of all, these are not H1Bs. These are people stuck in green card backlog due to incompetence of our legal immigration system. If they were from a different country than India they would be citizens by now.

Any abuse should be tackled, and those who commit fraud should be punished. No two ways about it. But why do you want to paint the entire H1B program with the same brush? Its like - lock all humans up because a handful comitted crime. Think about it.

Now about H4EAD. H4 visa is for spouse of H1B and they STILL can't work. H4EAD on other hand, is only given to those spouses whose green card applications are approved, but can't be issued yet due to backlogs which run into decades, sometimes 70+ years. Hope I could explain.

Thanks a ton @mirjordan and @nytimes for addressing this issue. Most of us are women and having the constant fear of not being able to contribute to our family and be a burden our whole lives. No one deserves this, especially when its no fault of yours. #SaveH4EAD @SaveH4EADs

Thank you NyTimes! I moved to U.S. from Canada as H4EAD gave me the opportunity to work here. Families make life decisions based on govt policies and it’s unfair to pull the rug from under us. We will eventually get Green Card so why waste our talent until then?

Secondly, these are highly educated English speaking model immigrants. Why is the administration punishing those who are following the law? We need to go after illegal immigration, build the wall and fix immigration laws.
