Police officers shot and killed a black man in Brooklyn who was known to be mentally ill after he pointed what the officers believed was a gun at them, the authorities said. The object turned out to be a metal pipe with a knob on it.https://nyti.ms/2Gzifuj

Tragic accident. If he was known to be mentally ill then he should’ve been getting some help.

Easier said then done. And it wasn’t an accident. They intentionally shot him bc they’re too damn trigger happy, especially when they see black skin.

police are like 10 times more likely to be shot at by a black man than any other race. Of course that doesn’t make it acceptable but it certainly could account for the skittish behavior. You can’t expect them to never make mistakes when they have to make split second decisions.

I think the white side started it first if we really want to be objective

How does that change the fact that a cop knows that he’s statistically more likely to be shot at by a black man. The funny thing is that cops are still more likely to shoot white men, so this whole blk genocide by cop narrative is overblown bullshit.

Unlike the military, I guess police do not have rules of engagement. It’s the Wild Wild West out there. Even if he had a gun they could have paused to see if he was going to actually shootpic.twitter.com/lNdTIcX7fK

You would be dead in 3 seconds . Pause to see if he will shoot ? HE WAS POINTING THE SUPPOSED GUN AT THEM !! Holy fuck man , are they supposed to wait until he pulls the fucking trigger ? Are you really that stupid ?

Why not use a police dog, taser, wear bulletproofvests, shoot him in the leg or arm? Better training? Why does it always have to result in death?

Bravo, some grade A victim blaming. Because of course it certainly wouldn't be the job of law enforcement not to shoot innocent people!

Why does this statement include race? The story wouldn’t grab you? Remove “black man” and the story reigns that a mental ill person pointed an object at an officer. As soon as you present that he is “Black” you have attempted to villainize law enforcement #spadeAspade

So let me guess…the police in no way tried to reason the man down? Despite not being sure he had a gun. Right.
