Police officers shot and killed a man in Brooklyn after he pointed what they believed was a gun at them. The object turned out to be a metal pipe with a knob on it.https://nyti.ms/2GzlHVU

You’d have to be crazy to point that obect at the police. Police have a right to protect their lives & go home at night.

Like the cops in Sacramento said Stephon Clark was facing them. Cops are assassin squads against POC! White men WITH guns are brought in alive, time after time. Sometimes they are treated to Burger King. Most of the black casualties had nòthing to do with a crime! #AltonSterling

Sorry you feel that way. The statistics don’t support that argument. I feel that the media covers these situations to portray a certain narrative. I don’t believe race is the issue.

Dude, you're a white guy. You are the PINNACLE of privilege. Of COURSE you don't believe that race is the issue. Jesus H. Christmas, I can't with this bullshit narrative that it if doesn't affect you, it doesn't affect anyone.

I do not subscribe to identity politics. Content of character, how you conduct yourself in public and who you choose as friends are the determining factors for success in America.

SUue. And you can wish in one hand, and shit in the other, and see which one fills up first. Have you ever even MET a POC? Spoken to a black man? Hell, read a damn newspaper? jfc. You can crow all goddamn day long about "content of character," but that doesn't make it true.

If he aimed it at them they still had to do this. When will people realize they must not threaten the police (or anyone else who is armed)? Is everyone in this country a criminal ready to defend other criminal attacks on police?

You know it's easier to talk this way when you've never been victimized innocently, no one says all police are bad, but they're definitely some bad ones among them and nothing is wrong with calling them out.

There needs to be some universal understanding of how people who cannot or do not talk can convey to police what they need to know.

True...but that type of scenario is NOT what occurs during the majority of police shootings.

No it isn't --- the majority of the shootings that are used as an excuse for riots and destruction were GOOD CALLS by the police though sometimes they were too slow and allowed themselves and their fellows to be killed.

I fear there are more cases like that than we hear of. I certainly did not hear of that one. Many of these recent cases of cops killed are likely that too sad to say.
