The yearbook staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School knew they'd have to memorialize the shooting in their yearbook pages. Somehow.https://nyti.ms/2EhRvZb

Why would you want this in the year book? The shooting didnt make the school year. Why would you even give the idiot the time of the day of being part of your memories.

17 people they loved are now gone, and in a horrific manner that happened AT school. Why would this not be in the yearbook? Would you prefer that they act as if their friends and teachers simply went on vacation?

I cried. This crabby old Boston granny cried when I looked at the yearbook spread. Don’t know why this - even more than Emma’s deeply moving silent speech choked me up. These kids give me hope in their MAGNIFICENT response to tragedy. To tomorrow!

Sad that a massacre has to be a part of their lives when they should be adding all joyful events in their yearbook. So sad 😞

Why? Seems like something you’d wanna keep outta the year book. Since it’s been memorialized throughout the entire world. “Look here jimmy, here’s your dad on the baseball team and oh check this out, this is the day 17 of my classmates were gunned down. Good memories!” Cmon.

Because, unfortunately, it was a part of their lives while at this school. You don't ignore and act like things didn't happen just because they were negative.

Not putting something in the year book doesnt mean you’re acting like it didn’t happen. That shooting is memorialized in American history forever. You don’t need to put it in the yearbook full of happy memories and fun pictures.

You don't get to decide what these kids get to memorialize or need to find tragic enough to remember.

I’m stating my opinion on social media. I’m not deciding anything. First time on Twitter?

And I'm stating mine, that your opinion is irrelevant to how these kids want to memorialize a tragedy that THEY went through, not you.

Sad day for all, made worse by using their 'friends' deaths for their own agenda, while not honoring the wishes of the real victims.

The media has been saturated with stories from pictures of tampons in their backpacks to their yearbook. It's time to move on. There really is other news going on that is actually newsworthy other than this crap.
