I must add that Mr. #VanDerZwaan, registered as a #lawyer with the #englandandwales Law Society (http://solicitors.lawsociety.org.uk/person/7115/alex-rolf-van-der-zwaan …), may very well see his days numbered as one (https://www.lawsociety.org.uk/For-the-public/Using-a-Solicitor/Code-of-conduct/ …) after he's referred to the #Solicitor|s Disciplinary Tribunal (http://www.solicitorstribunal.org.uk/ ).

Looks like Alex did some cooperating with Mueller, hence the light sentence.

I was thinking that too, but also wondering if this was just a punishment for lying and he was still under investigation?

I think if he were still under investigation, Mueller would have waited to indict him for lying: he'd have included the lying charge in the list of indictments. Van der Swaan is a small fish: a guppy.

And his lawyer is asking for no jail time/deportation. He cooperated.

Yes. Keep in mind, he took a plea deal and he *still* got 30 days and a fine.

That is one more prosecution than the seven million dollar, two year long, Benghazi investigation netted. I imagine more will come and get more severe as they climb the ladder.
