The Second Amendment is just 27 words long, but it is at the heart of contentious debates on gun control. Why is the Supreme Court reluctant to clarify it? https://nyti.ms/2H6zL6l

That quote is from the Heller decision in 2008 that was the most lax interpretation of the amendment in history. Try learning for once.

It has clarified it, a few times, most recently with the SCOTUS decision on heller v Columbia 2008. The fact that people don’t want to come to terms with the decision, well that’s their problem.

Correct. Which is why I can’t own a tank or jet fighter. Which is why I need a class 3 weapons license to own fully automatic weapons. There are plenty of limitations on the 2A already.

Actually, you can buy a tank (with ATF permission and tax stamp process similar to class III purchases). http://www.mortarinvestments.eu/  Of course, you'll need to be a gazillionaire, since the prices start in the millions.

My point stands. There are already limitations on the 2A, and further limiting it is not what many people want. Corroding our constitutional rights is a bad idea.

Don't misunderstand, I'm as ardent a 2nd amendment supporter as there is. Just stating facts.

On June 26, 2008, in District of Columbia v. Heller (PDF), the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution confers an individual right to possess a firearm for traditionally lawful purposes such as self-defense. https://www.loc.gov/law/help/second-amendment.php …

The "amendment" grants you the "right," the "right" didn't establish the "amendment."

It was more of a guarantee than a grant. It was a right before there was an amendment.

I felt your last thoughts didn't need a reply because it showed how much you know on the subject. If it took an amendment to make the right how did everyone already have guns? It was a guarantee not a grant. You Should have accepted my silence.
