One dairy farmer shot all 51 of his milking cows and then turned the gun on himself. The dairy industry across the U.S. is in the grip of an economic crisis, fueled by decreasing demand as customers turn to milk alternatives.https://nyti.ms/2uCglmY

Almond milk is a environmental desaster. You need lots of water for cultivating loads of almonds needed for milk. And the biggest plantations are in areas which do not have to much water.

Dairy is an environmental disaster! Plus it's just cruel & unnecessary.pic.twitter.com/OB8GSUHPPQ

The problem is, almonds grow in hot regions, you need lots of water, dairy needs more water but most of the dairy is done in water rich regions so go figure. The problem is not dairy it is the mass production. Buy your milk cheese joghurt etc... from small organic farmers...

There are plenty of other plant-based milks to choose from. Dairy belongs in the past, it's cruel, unhealthy & destroying the environment.

Neither is for almond milk. BTW there are places in this world where dairy farming has been done for thousands of years and those small scale farms are a vital part of the environmental equilibrium. The Alpine areas in Europe for instance where I live.

Why all this drama? Just switch! Grow beans, soy and vegetables, make all this vegetarian/vegan meals in jars. Make soy/almond milk for goodness sake! Deliver vegetarian food to offices. So much work is waiting!

Absolutely! I do recognise it might be difficult for some to transition, but maybe their government should help with the process of diversifying. They cannot ignore these changes in demand. Fighting it is pointless. Support to transition would help.

So many people don’t get this. It’s sad that a farmer who has made his whole life from exploiting others isn’t supported and shown the ways to make a living without that exploitation. So many other opportunities in the world but he couldn’t see or find a way to change.

We have dairy-free cheese no need for animal cruelty & an industry that is destroying the environment. The farmer should have had or seeked some help to transition away from dairy.

👆🏼This a thousand times! Just because someone is struggling in a business doesn’t mean there is no other way out. It may not be easy but there are ways to transition out of the cruelty of dairy. It’s sad this person felt there was no other way. #veganhttps://goveganworld.com/living-vegan/farming/ …
