*clears throat* “The Wiz” did that, too.

I liked it, especially Alice Cooper. However, the singing and acting in the original film was better. The best singer in a main role in the TV broadcast was Dixon as Judas.

Yeah, because this one was blacker. Too bad about needing to involve Jesus, who despite being anticolonialist was near-white and of course Christian.

He was actually Jewish and Middle-Eastern, but thanks for playing.

That's why I said near-white. Jews have insufficient Diversity Pokemon Points to deserve network specials.

Middle Eastern isn’t “near white”. It’s not white. You said he was “of course Christian”. He was Jewish. Nevertheless, did it ever occur to you that maybe the actors got their parts because they are good and not because they are Black?

If Christ wasn't Christian, no one is.

The word “Christian” wasn’t used until after his death. Furthermore, the term was an originally derogatory term meaning “little Christs”, which was then adopted by the early church. It would make no sense for Christ to call himself a term meaning a version of himself.

I don't care what he would have called himself. He's Christian, just like Muhammed was Muhammedean and Darwin was Darwinian.pic.twitter.com/UpbFvScU57

Yeah, well, you can call him what you want, but if we could go back in time and ask him, he’d say he’s Jewish.

Black Jesus. This is too predictable. 😐 Q:Why did they cast a black guy as Jesus? A: Because if they didn't (regardless of merit) it'd be racist.

No, it wouldn’t be racist if a non-Black actor/singer got the role, but it is racist that you assume the only reason he got the role is because he is Black.

Maybe @Lin_Manuel could do a version like this of @HamiltonMusical coinciding when he reprises the titular role in Puerto Rico? @nbc would have astronomical ratings and PR gets the attention it deserves plus the country would have an increase in #hamilgeeks.
