But an African American woman gets five years for a voting error. Yeah, we don’t have a race problem in our judicial system.

This kid gets a two year sentence after driving drunk and killing four people meanwhile, a woman just got a five years sentence for voting while on probation. Is this another example of the inequities of race and wealth in the justice system or just Texas?

Well, he is white, so. If he was black, brown or an immigrant he would have stay in jail forever.

If this is not proof of white privilege I don’t know what is. If you believe a brown or black person could have claimed affluenza & served 2 years for the murder of 4 people I have a bridge to sell you.

Not just white privilege but green privilege (those with all the green get all the privileges). If he had been poor - he’d be in jail for a long time....

I agreed in my previous tweet but the more I think about it, the less I believe a wealthy brown or black person would have gotten the same jail time & less likely affluenza would have worked.

Agreed. I guess my only point is that “white privilege” doesn’t necessarily explain everything and financial means have to be factored in.

And he left prison in a Tesla. In this case, I don’t think justice was served. Four people died and many lives were shattered - does two years in jail suffice? We shall see how this story plays out.

He was convicted in Tarrant County, the same country that just sentenced a forty three year old African American mother to five years in prison for voting while on probation.
