I love negative feedback, as long as it's constructive. You can't fix what you don't know is broken. Don't go full Waltersobchakeit, but don't sugarcoat. If someone needs to hear something to change, give it to them.

A single Windsor knot doesn't look good with a maroon-Robin's egg contrast. Go with a double Windsor unless you're using warm colors for your dress shirt, with a dark blazer, if applicable.

We're probably wired to be terrified of ostracization. Without the support of a group we're likely to die. Or so it was when we evolved. So if we get negative feedback, it strikes us as a signal that the ostracization process has begun. We can take some. But too much means death.

That seems to be the wrong thought process
-
I would say it's more of a reflex than a thought process.

If you craved negative feedback that might would be down the lines of a psychopathic leaning brain

As a disciplinary technique it’s called “Negative Reinforcement” it is one of many ways to get individuals to elicit a positive response. It is easiest to recognize in the military. IMO if unchecked or abused it is the slippery slope to bullying.

Part of it may depend on how the self is perceived. Negative feedback as a threat to self-enhancement and self-esteem versus negative feedback as chiseling and carving of a constantly evolving self into a shinier version are two separate experiences.

This headline makes me thankful I was born in the 70s with disengaged parents who mostly provided me with negative feedback. Most kids are not special. Including yours. And that's perfectly OK.

Mental tricks work so well so hey in the mindset that any feedback is going to make you stronger, faster, more capable just like
#experience that makes us#better because we know “it was meant to happen & the reason#WHY may not be known [yet].” Stay open to what’s possible...pic.twitter.com/wsnFSZeC8B
