Questions like, why isn’t anyone reporting the deaths per mile difference between these cars and fully human driven ones?

Here it is NYT. In the US, there is 1 fatality 86 million miles across all vehicles from all manufacturers. For Tesla, there is one fatality, including known pedestrian fatalities, every 320 million miles in vehicles equipped with Autopilot = 3.7 times less likely to be killed

The problem is that Tesla is comparing their record against the average vehicle. They should compare it to stats of luxury cars that have better safety. For example there hasn’t been any fatalities in a Volvo XC90 in the past several years.

That’s a very good point. I’m sure there are other things worth controlling for here as well (prob very few accident prone teenage Tesla drivers). Just wish conversations were centered around these things and not expecting perfection from driverless cars

When does a human crash call human drivers into question?

Let's hope they will manage to improve it. And that after they do, we won't get a real SkyNet.
