No one told them their homes were at risk. They were intentionally flooded to save downtown Houston when Harvey hit. Now they must decide to stay or go.https://nyti.ms/2Ja0Eqn

It is the obligation of the government to pay a fair, pre-flood price for their homes. Don't screw people over for a buck.

Society must take over all responsibility in infrastructure planning, and regulation in association to that. This can not be left to just market forces. I guess some business thrives on rebuilding what regularly is torn down but thatäs not the way it's supposed to work.

This is what happens when you ignore building codes and allow flood zone areas to build homes. This is on Houston’s representatives.

Criminal. $omething must have influenced government to provide permits to build on land that was clearly intended to be a flood plain. Wrong in so many ways!

The developers should have been run out of town on a rail. When they felt it was A OK to build homes in this area of Houston. Damn Fools

Sounds like the government is at fault here. Yet of course, they don't want to take the blame for their blatant disregard for the people of their city.

When someone has a kind of 'power' of other people, then that person should work for the welfare of these other people. Rebuild that area, but take measures to prevent it from happening again.
