The names of the "Three Queen Marys" were Mary Thomas, Agnes Salomon and Mathilda McBean. Mary Thomas received the most notoriety because she was sent to Denmark as punishment. The Danes refer to the October 1878 event as a "rebellious arson" /1

We, Crucians, refer to it as the "Fiyyah Bun"(fire burn). As children, we learn a popular song, "Queen Mary weh yo ah go bun" which tells the story of my ancestors burning most of the western side of the island of St. Croix and the courage /2

Fact: Black women have been getting it done since day 1. There should be monuments like this everywhere.

Meanwhile in America, we've had a revival of celebrating statues of slave owners... Props to Denmark for acknowledging atrocities of the past.

This is discrimination between black and white, no need to identify anyone as black or white. Individual can be treated by his/her work.
