In Opinion, @rgay writes: "No amount of mental gymnastics can make what Roseanne Barr has said and done in recent years palatable."https://nyti.ms/2GiEC6Z

She’ a comedian, he’s a prof. athlete. She did it for laughs, he did it to shame America. If he really wanted to make a statement on police brutality, he should have figured another way rather than disrespecting the country and every one who sacrificed their lives protecting it.

I agree. I tried to watch the first episode, but no amount of comedy can compensate for the disgusting behavior of the real Roseanne. I didn’t laugh once and had to turn it off.

Sorry, but I don't watch TV shows about low-information voters. The lower orders may yearn for and indeed voted in the authoritarian father figure, but I don't need to watch the sickening display of their primal impulses on television.

I was going to watch until Trump said it all about him and shows how all those who watch support him. I just can’t give him that satisfaction.

Actually it's hundreds of millions of Americans not watching. There are way more than 18 million NOT watching Roseanne.

Point is, "Roseanne" worked the first time around because she was a normal housewife who put together a relatable standup routine describing her life and translated that into a show. She has been a celebrity for so long now that she is out of touch. Best of luck to her though.
