He was black, of course.

As was deputy Brewer

This is relevant, exactly how? Doesn’t change the stats on the number of unarmed black people shot by police in your lovely country.
-
It’s relevant because you’re insinuating the race of the man shot came into play, which would make this a hate crime. It’s not. It’s an officer who should go to prison, but it’s not race based. And you’d know that if you read the article.
-
It’s the race of the victim that is the pattern here. Race of the cop is irrelevant. It’s been well documented that men are more likely to be shot by cops if they are black, regardless of the race of the cop.
-
I’m curious what statistics show regarding the race of those committing crimes, and then wonder if that’s impacting the broad stat you’re tossing out there.
-
You can look that up but that wasn’t the point. I was responding to someone who mistakenly believed that the race of the cop is important when talking about an unarmed black man being more likely to be shot than a white man.

What is the purpose of the body camera? Feels more like a formality as oppose to a policy.

Varies from department to department. Statewide standards at least as far as implementation would be nice to have so at least there’s some consistency.
-
I agree with that.

“Relatives of Mr. Thomas told The Houston Chronicle last week that he suffered from depression and that two of his children were drowned in August 2016. The children’s mother has been charged with capital murder.” The man needed help not a bullet in the chest.
