Jim Mattis was dismissed as a warmonger during the Obama presidency. Now the defense secretary may be the only reliable voice of caution left in the Trump administration, @robertfworth writes.https://nyti.ms/2G7lglw

Shows how stupid the press and the Bo admin was. Mattis was a warmonger under Bo but now he’s the voice of sanity. The media is a joke. Mattis will do what is necessary to defend the nation, that’s all that matters. This isn’t ash carter the fool here

As far as I can tell, "draining the swamp" simply entails Trump firing his own employees. Is that about right? #TrumpSwamp

I'm not a foreign policy wonk so hearing that Mattis was stoking for a fight during the Obama years puts a fresh chill down my spine if he's now the voice of calm with these current Trumpian wingnuts.

Obama hated him for saying it take more to stop terrorist.Obama thought ISIS was a JV team and hated the way Mattis wanted to go after http://them.It  seems Obama protected ISIS and gave them money and http://weapons.It  took Mattis no time to get them out of Iraq

Can Jim Mattis Hold the Line in Trump’s War Cabinet? Answer: Bet your sweet butt he can and will. Hopefully the American people will have his back, if you want your freedom and safety. Just saying.

Warrior and warmonger are not the same. His view on Iran differed with that of the former administration. It hasn’t changed with this administration, he just doesn’t want to waste lives in a avoidable conflict despite POTUS and his NS Advisor.
