Immigrants increasingly care for America's elderly population. If "chain migration" ends, will enough Americans step in and do the work?https://nyti.ms/2DTLwJQ

Excuse me ☝️ No one has a problem with immigration. The problem is with ILLEGAL immigration. Legal immigration is fine and welcomed in this country. Legal and illegal immigration are two very different things.

It'll fall to women mostly. And it'll be how a lot of us don't get ahead, don't build retirement funds, don't get educated, don't go to the doctor ourselves, don't go to the gym, etc. This will impact women (the majority of non-pro caregivers) FAR more than men.

I know the answer to this: No. Because despite the fact that this is necessary and hard work, it is very low paid work.

Wow! The NYT is in the back pocket of the Democratic Party. Bought and paid for.

Yeah right. Make caring for the elderly a political situation and blame the NYT for politics on this subject. You obviously don’t have elderly parents and seen it up close. So for now, stop making uniformed BS statements please.

In the meantime, while we're being disparaged and the country takes advantage of immigrants, who cares for our elderly? This problem will not change overnight. There are too many splinters: wages, training, healthcare $, corporate nursing homes, home care companies. ALL POLTICAL.

In my neighborhood of South Jersey immigrant workers make up most of the farming and fishing industry. We’re already feeling the pinch of not enough workers.

Increasingly abuse our elderly. There are enough people without jobs. The jobs are being given to immigrants instead of Americans.

Why do the elderly consistently vote for politicians who advocate ending "chain migration?" Maybe start there.

So you have this absurdity of a headline implying the elderly everywhere will be helpless to recover from a fall if it is not for "Chain Imigrants" because aparently they are the only ones who would be willing to extend a helping hand.Turns out its barely related to the article.
