She created the punchcard- her dad was Lord Byron - English poet
Back in the '80s n '90s I taught college computing and my intro always included the history. Students were wowed that the first programmer was a woman from the 1840's and Lord Byron's daughter at that. ADA programming language was named for her.
She was also the daughter Lord Byron and Anne Milbanke.
There is a programming language named after Ms. Lovelace. I haven't worked in the Defense industry for many years, but Ada was what I programmed in.
If these women were in my textbooks growing up, as opposed to a 99% males in all subjects, it would have made so much difference.
Congratulations NYT for finally discovering Ada Lovelace. After all the computer language ADA, named after her has existed since 1977.
And you guys told the real story @Thehistorychix !
Nonsense. What a stretch.
Take that, brogrammers
I’m sad you left out her middle name! Never see my name on the internet
Yes, we think she deserves more recognition than some writers of light romantic fiction.
