That guy is hunting for confirmation bias. The title is literally just talking about the claim of the mother.
Feel better?
My mama used to always say "If I ask you a specific question, it's because I already know the answer to it"
I don't, how about just ending the bias in coverage? How hard is that to do? In America it shouldn't be an automatic pundit jump that if a person is brown they are automatically a terrorist, or automatically asking the question "was it terrorism" then black people shouldn't be
automatically tagged as thugs etc and please stop with the crap coverage of white's automatically being "mentally ill." These are stereotypes created by decades of journalist own internal biases. So instead of covering these incidents like you would in the 1950's try entering the
21st Century when people ARE Supposed to be Judged by their Actions, not the color of their skin and if you can't keep your own internal biases, then don't be the one to write the article. How's that?
hmmm, I welcome this introspection. Used to feel the NYT was a go-to source. I now will read NPR or other sources first. In some cases, the difference is glaring, in others, your coverage is outstanding. Not sure what contributes to this but you are losing readers and credibility.
Maybe because print journalism is antiquated and those still under its employ are equally antiquated? Are the tacit biases expressed by NYT an indication of stagnating culture at the paper? If I were a talented young, socially-conscious writer would I want to work @nytimes today?
I rarely acess print editions so do not consider them print journalism. I have always relied on NYT for good solid coverage but something is amiss lately. I think they easily attract young talent or did.
Please just hire a writer of color to take care of this properly instead of asking an audience that's getting tired of pointing out your errors to ears that don't listen.
You could pay a writer of color for this insight instead of crowdsourcing it for free.
A Suicide Bomber Isn’t A Terrorist Unless He’s Muslim According To NYT.
The title of your story is a prime example of your bias. Instead of "white Christian male", it should read White supremacist TERRORIST. Why couldn't you print That? But if he were poc whether true or false you'd have his rap sheet since kindergarten.
How many times do you need to write this article when you KNOW FULL WELL YOU DO IT
There is a consistent racial bias in your coverage of victims and perpetrators of crimes. I also find the sympathetic tone of pieces on white supremacists and evangelicals disturbing.
