All tariffs do is raise prices on consumers - period. That’s the only person punished. The metals that go into cars, Appliances, etc will be higher so cost of production rises. So companies adjust prices of finished goods. They aren’t going to eat it thru lower profits.

Americans consume 5x the goods the Chinese do...our dollar is stronger and our corp tax rates and regs have been slashed....point of distribution just became very attractive and out weighs cheap labor...

Fortunately for the corporation's they have tax cuts to soften the trade war effects. Oh yeah and then they can lay off the workers to keep their stock prices up. Great economic and foreign policy.

The results of these tariffs are not going to hurt those who can afford to pay higher prices-they are going to hurt the rest of us. The U.S. debt to China is $1.102 trillion, as of May 2017. What would we do if they decided to call in this debt? Our businessman POTUS is a joke.

European countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand should also punish China for its unfair trade.

China will apply better strategic acumen to this issue than Trump.
