Alejandro Caceres, who lives and works in East Austin, said he believed the police were dismissing the concerns of black and Hispanic residents that the bombings were, at least in part, racially motivated. http://nyti.ms/2G5NCsd pic.twitter.com/Z1EqyNascU

the austin bomber IS a terrorist but because he’s a white guy, and he’s not a muslim, he just “felt like an outcast and needed an outlet to release his loneliness.” honestly its all bs, people are just trying to defend him because hes a cis white male

lmao tbh i’m not trying to be a SJW but there is an underlying narrative that you don’t seem to be seeing : if this guy screamed allahu akbar before blowing up his car, this would be so sensationalized, especially by pro-trump voters because theyve defined terrorists as muslims

screaming allahu akbar isnt in the definition of a terrorist, but because of post-911 politics, trump has formalized a certain bias towards muslims to be thought of as terrorists. but i see your point, if he screamed white power or something to that effect, sensationalized too

exactly my point;; i’m just saying that they’re more likely to be thought of as a “terrorist” or labeled a “terrorist” when committing something like this while as more people are more willing to create an excuse for people who aren’t muslim

I lived & worked there for five years. I have ZERO doubt that there was racial motivation. Zero. Austin is still Texas and Texas is still the South. I-35 (despite hipster gentrification) is still a literal segregation line. “East Austin” = “Non-white Austin” #terrorist #truth

The bombings were not racially motivated. Stop race baiting.

Was the news even reporting that poc were being targeted? I didn’t hear much about this so genuinely curious

It was covered as a possibility by the 2nd-3rd bombings on Mar. 12. (I did not hear anything about the 1st bombing at the time, but I know I heard about all the rest via diff media outlets the same day.)
