This is what deregulation and lack of regulations brings. The whole state allows risky building practices.
-
That is dead on, exactly correct! Thank your local governments folks. They are the ones who grant the zoning exemptions, and the ones you vote into office.

I saw this!! That’s so messed up that no one told them their house was in a zone that the county might flood. That should have to be disclosed by the seller. When you all post something like this you should link to the people who were affected or to their go fund me page I think.

Serves them right for living in a gated community.
-
Ha, what a bullshit thing to say
-
Gated communities ruin whole neighbourhoods.
-
So the people who choose to lived inside them deserve to be flooded?
-
It’s God’s will...or something.
-
What a grossly insensitive thing to say. My family lives in a neighborhood right next to Addicks, and our house got flooded. When my parents first bought the house, there was no disclosure on the house being prone to flooding. To suggest that we somehow deserved this is foolish.
-
Not denying it’s bad deal for those who live there but why buy in a gated community? What’s that saying to their neighbours?
-
My neighborhood was close to my grade and high schools, ditto for my sister. Mmy mom's business was also close by, but overall, it was a nice and safe place to buy a house.

Geological monitoring and topographical surveys are important in allowing the building of a settlement in a particular place especially the coastal belt as Tsunamis plus typhoons can cause havoc there putting the lives and properties in danger.
