Since 1851, obituaries in The New York Times have been dominated by white men. Now, we're adding the stories of more women. We’ll be adding to this collection, as Overlooked becomes a regular feature in the obituaries section.http://nyti.ms/2FPQlK1

We want to read about women of color. When you start to add the men, we want to read about men of color.

Lots of papers all over America have been including women’s obits for decades. Welcome to the 21st century. It’s a great place to be.

I would think you have to pay for an obit in the NYT. When my husband died, I called the Philadelphia Inquirer to place his obit. I was shocked at the cost. Is the NYT lowering the rates or do you now get a freebie?
