In Opinion Op-Ed columnist @DouthatNYT writes: The business model of our news channels both assumes and heightens polarization. It was ripe for exploitation by a demagogue who was also a celebrity.http://nyti.ms/2DNdyHe

Douthat is a nutty republican that the NYT lets in so that we can benefit from the other side’s asinine opinions. Great. Next article.

For the benefit of Trump voters, "Trump done got media in a fuss by using it for gain." Savvy?

"the more important cynicism...belonged to those television execs who were fine with enabling the wild Trumpian takeover of the GOP, because after all Republicans deserved it." Yeah dude it wasn't documented money-driven ratings incentives but rather your petty grievance politics

I always knew that if Clinton was elected, nothing would change. There would be 8 more years of BOTH Congressional and VOTER "deadlock." But with Trump...they are going to overreach and overreach...and America might just "wake up! wake up!"

Not coincidentally, these "figurehead" Presidents' (e.g., Reagan, W and Trump) salient defects serve to "favorably juxtapose" the GOP Congress despite the latter doing the lion's share of the DAMAGE to the People, our Economy and the Constitution.

The business model? More like, the SAME "ruling elite" within the GOP that "killed" the Fairness Act- you know, that just "killed" Net Neutrality- created the "hyper-partisan, cable news canvas" to imbue such a polarizing "figurehead President" upon in broad & deliberate strokes
