How very short-sighted and naive. Had the student never got a gun a gun would have never been needed to protect the others. Clearly, our system does not work, while I do not want a full ban, it is clear we can do so much better than we are doing now.

#1, and most important, is the law has to be universal across the board. Background checks need to include all police contact and any relevant medical issues before purchase. Licensure for weapons like AR's, servicemen have to qualify for weapons first, no reason civilians can't.

Honestly that's pretty much what I had in mind. I suggested a psychological drug database for past and present use. The hundred million gun owners aren't the problem. It's the nuts that are the problem.

And I agree. I also hate punishing people who've done nothing wrong, but some discomfort has to happen so we can weed out the people like Paddock and Cruz. TBH the licensing courses would be like "gun camp" to the die-hards. A course to recertify, reexamine, and ofc competition.

Thank you for the same. Lately, it seems like the conversation just gets shut down as soon as political leanings are learned. I have been guilty of that too, but honestly, that hurts us all, and like this convo proves, there is a road both can agree upon.
