Florida International University has a center devoted to accelerated bridge construction. That engineering method was used to build a pedestrian bridge on campus. Its collapse has dealt a grave blow to the center and the school.http://nyti.ms/2FNixJx

I remember when my people were made to work for nothing and then for very little and jobs when were taken away specifically from Black men. We built this country and nothing collapsed while it was in Black hands. Nothing collapsed. #Wakandapic.twitter.com/5hi8ccAF3s

How this could happen in a country in the industrialized world today is beyond me. These guys should only be allowed to play with Lego from now on, if that. @FIU #MiamiBridgeCollapse

“We will try to understand if there are areas where we could have done better,” said Dr. Rosenberg, President of FIU re: the collapsed bridge. Are you kidding me? WTF kind of comment is that? Is he insane? That pisses me off. @FIU #MiamiBridgeCollapse

Perhaps classes should refocus on redundant mechanisms to prevent collapse in the event of structural failures which are an inherent attribute to all things built over time. Strength over asthetics is another take-a-way from this as well. Over build infrastructure min spec 2 temp

This construction was not safe. It was ongoing, over a busy highway. This was grave negligence, and people were needlessly killed. I am so very sorry for the victims and their families.
