The crack on the Florida bridge was discussed in a meeting hours before the bridge's collapse. The engineering company for the bridge said the cracking presented no safety issues.http://nyti.ms/2FHAGfN

Trump immediately hired this engineering company to oversee national infrastructure upgrade.

Can someone explain why they were tightening the suspension wires while traffic was moving? I'm no engineer but, traffic should have been halted while adjustments were being done

the engineering company should be held responsible for these deaths- the road should have been closed at first sight of cracks.

Cracking means danger the families of the victims need to sue the company and who ever hired her!is it an old company ?they need to watch it work bc obviously it is not safe !

The crack in the concrete wasn't the cause of failure. The cause of failure was one of the tensioning cables that snapped before the bridge fell. The real question is why it broke.

Thanks for the info the news was not clear they shld investigate so it will not happen in other similar bridges

The investigation will tell all, and we'll hopefully learn from it. The cable is the main part because it shot out partially. A tightened cable snapping under tension shoots out, it would be crushed in place had it been a concrete failure. Many questions need to be answered.

It presented no safety issues because nobody wanted to pay to have it fixed. When money means more than lives, bad things happen.
