        It is not demeaning to compare these two women, both rejected the boundaries of society in extremely turbulent times. Both were brave, though somewhat naive but continued to fight for change and were willing to die for their beliefs. Great inspirational article.

        It's a shame this write-up had to demean Qiu Jin with inappropriate Western comparisons. There is nothing Joan of Arc-like about her at all. She's a woman who died violently. That is the only similarity. How about allowing her to stand on her own actions?
