Since 1851, obituaries in The New York Times have been dominated by white men. Now, we're adding the stories of more women. We’ll be adding to this collection, as Overlooked becomes a regular feature in the obituaries section.http://nyti.ms/2DvtMo5

Hoping the paper also decides to cover more women - who are still alive.

A book of “Obituaries We Should Have Ran” would be great, too! Especially with commentary from editors (or others) about why the obituary was missed — are there people today who aren’t getting ones that should? How can we know now instead of in retrospect?

That means they'd be writing about black lives that mattered.

I remember reading a NYTimes article about a ground breaking, Nobel Prize winning, woman scientist who was researching something new, and it was a good article until the end when the writer pointed out that women can’t have it all b/c she was single and childless. 🤬😠🤬😠🤬😠

I read this article over twenty years ago, and I remember it still because that obnoxious blatantly sexist ending was like a punch to the gut. God forbid men just simply write about the accomplishments of women. He even addressed directly his women readers.

Obituaries are Good for Remembrance But whatever happen to their soul is more akin for them to RIP is what they should be and is what our primary concern but concern alone isn't sufficient... tag me how we can tap their soul... their name their soul,my name my soul.... esr

The New York Times is an elitist, pompous, classist, war mongering rag of a newspaper. Very expensive bird cage lining, but worth it.
