The final bridge, which was expected to open in 2019, would have added a tower and cable stays as the "main" support for the structure. If the support on each end is not enough to keep the bridge afloat why was it opened now and kept there?

It's as if the bridge was designed to collapse in a matter of days.

Question: Why was shoring removed from beneath the span before the cable stays were attached and loaded?
-
It's possible the stays are (a) only needed for live load (b) maybe needed for partial support (c) as architects like to do for decoration. Not all cable supported bridges require the cables believe it or not. Some owners like them because they look cool. Silly but true.

Being a failed architecture/engineering studen the last thing I’d assume would be a decorative suspension structure. I appreciate this reply.

I wonder if the deregulations had anything to do with this.

It seems, and I'm no engineer, there were problems with the execution of installation.
