I remember hearing a veterinarian on the BBC over fifty years aho discussing these health problems and asking the AKC to ban them until they are bred with health not looks in mind

Thought this was common knowledge. Whenever I hear friends talking about hating GMOs I ask if they hate dogs.

Modified by trial-and-error seems acceptable to people, using science seems somehow too ... science.

As a French Bulldog owner, I can honestly say I will never have another. She is chronically unhealthy and can’t even go for a walk without struggling to breathe and that is after surgery that was supposed to help. We have to stop manufacturing dogs who suffer.

Interesting to see that American dog owners, like their British counterparts, are beginning to realise that the breed standards dreamt up by their respective Kennel Clubs, are massively flawed. Time for change in order to prevent pets suffering.

Unfortunately, this leaves wrong impression that all brachycephalic dogs will be sick forever. Not true. The real lesson is check with vet as to how your pet will fare in flight. Brachycephalic dogs should not fly. But many are great pets.
