Strange how men who go to wars, climb the mountains, or sail the seas to discover new continents were never called selfish for leaving their wives, children, parents & siblings behind to 'wait' for their questionable return, but do it as a woman & you are selfish.

I wonder how many male climbers have been asked about leaving their families behind.

Just another woman who wasn't listening to her husband. Some women have their own lives to live and think for themselves.

And what is said of the males who went, and never got off a mountain alive?

People need to let go of trying to control those who are different from the rest. Explorers need to explore. Allison knew the tradeoffs and risks involved. She was supported by her family and friends. Give it a rest, haters. You don't have to hate.

I lost my husband because he was doing something he loved. You can't stop them you can only pray they return.

Unless you are going to make the same comment about the multitudes of men who made the climb and died you need to not talk

What is gained by climbing a mountain, if someone has been there before and proved it was possible. If it is a test for what you can, then at least try to do something that benefits some good cause.

I don’t think men or women should be climbing Everest. Regardless of whether they have children. Everyone has someone who cares about them & places like Everest were never meant for humans. Sorry to all mountaineers, u are incredibly brave. But you are also risking your lives.

RIP Alison
