Don't they also rank highly for suicides?

This is not correct, they are not even in the top 10 countries for suicides.

America
was #18 due to obesity, opioids and Dictator David Dennison. Shit health care, gun violence, and being labeled a flawed democracy were also contributing factors in our #shitholeness. - 1 more reply

No way could I be happy in a place with long long winters that only have about four hours of sunlight a day. That's just crazy.
-
I don't think it's been claimed that anyone can or should. be happy in Finland. But Finns are. Many enjoy frost and even dim and dark. I do.
-
I wasn't really trying to disparage Finland. I was more joking. I had some Finnish friends and enjoy their company & culture. But I have suffered from winter blues from lack of sunlight so I personally can't imagine living somewhere with so much less sunlight.
-
Yes, I understand. Health officials do recommend northern people to have additional vitamin D in the winter time, lack of sunlight may be a health issue. Back when no additional nutrients existed, people's well being in wintertime may not have been as good as these days.

Let me count the ways....great healthcare, stricter gun laws, high GDP, excellent education, social support (homeless programs, child care, etc.), a better prison system (where prison is a rehabilitation center) and so on.
