It’s not iconic. He was highly uncomfortable after she tricked him into it. Next.

Being kissed by someone when you don’t want it is never a gift, never! No matter who they are, or why they think they are more important than you, it’s not acceptable!

But we shouldn't hate Katy for that yes I understand that maybe he didn't want to but Katy didn't know and she thought it was nice thing to give him his first kiss and so she did but she didn't know he was gonna react like that but that happened and now it's over and we move on

But come on it's Kevin Spacey" "But come on, it's *insert male celebrity name here* "Maybe she didn't want to but he didn't know that and he didnt know she'd react like that" "It happened it's over so let's just move on" Sounds dangerous when you switch the genders doesn't it?

Yes okay I understand but he asked if he kissed a girl and he said no so Katy thought that was the right thing to do even tho we know that it was actually not the right thing to do. For him that kiss didn mean anything to him cuz it wasn't a kiss from the person he loves

This is not okay! If she were a male doing this to a female contestant people would be outraged. This movement needs to go both ways! Women also need to be mindful and respectful of unwanted affection and attention. I can’t believe this is not even an issue for American Idol.

19 y/o upset after being kissed by Katie Perry. Seriously. NY Times doesn’t have more important issues to publish. FAKE NEWS

That's the problem. It's not that big of a deal to people, but if the genders were reversed...I mean, I'm not tripping over this and I wouldn't be if the roles were reversed but...there's a point being made here.

The point is the way people act with shit like this. It's not that big of a deal. But it would be if it was a dude kissing a girl...that's how some people feel.

This is a situation where Katy Perry didn't even think it may be unwanted. Her ego was too big to even acknowledge the possibility of that. She probably thought he would be thrilled. I'm so glad he spoke out and wasn't afraid to do so!

He walked forward for a kiss but was pretty explicit about 'just on the cheek'. What Katy did is like a guy stealing a lip smooch from a girl when doing a European cheek kiss greeting. Uncool. She deserves some grief for it. Didn't respect his boundary. He'll live though.

My points are less about wanting to tar & feather Perry, but more about avoiding double-standards and chilling a bit about relatively minor single moments of uninvited physical affection (vs. gropings or patterns of harassment).

It does matter actually. It shows the hypocrisy of her being one of the women yelling for equality, but then trying to say it’s OK for her to have the same behavior. #metoo #timesup
