No they don’t, Matt Smith is an accomplished actor and has been cast for numerous roles, Claire Foy has been in far less films and has far less experience that’s why she’s paid less

Umm.. excuse me? Are you really trying to present Matt Smith as the ‘accomplished’ actor with tons of filmography next to newcomer Claire Foy? They both have similar work experience and number of roles, with Claire starring two shows before The Crown. Matt playing the Doctor+

+doesn't make him some sort of acting guru deserving to get paid for a secondary role more than the protagonist and face of the show! He merely got one nomination for his character in two seasons. And Claire? A tweet isn't enough to name all her nominations and wins.

Women continue to face inequality in the workplace. @ClaireFoySource pretty much carried that entire show. Travesty that she was paid less than her co-star, @mattsmith_dw. Shame on you @Netflix. Maybe all women should cancel their subscriptions in protest? #genderpaygap

CORRECTION: On Tuesday, 13 March, the producers of the @Netflix show announced that "Going forward, no one gets paid more than the Queen", reports http://hollywoodreporter.com . Thanks @Netflix for remedying this!

Matt Smith was the 11th Doctor in Doctor Who, a globally famous actor who brings recognition and viewers of all ages. Claire Foy isn't as well known yet, so pay is merited on star power in the ratings. It could help to do basic research on stories @nytimes

That is because Matt Smith has more experience and name power than Claire Foy at this point in time (as in before the series). She is excellent and will no doubt deserve the massive pay rise for season 2 and the raise it will result in for the rest of her career. Well done Claire

So, 1 of the 50 best known current TV actors, who could have almost picked whatever role he wanted, got paid more than an almost unknown looking for a break? Well, how horrible. Just because someone is the lead of a series, doesnt necessarily make them the most valuable.

Initial decision was based on the experience each brought to the project. Solid reasoning-can’t fault it Now there’s history on the show. Foy’s performance has been outstanding, Smith’s forgettable. Clearly Foy brings more to the show and her compensation should reflect it
