United Airlines apologized after a dog died on a flight during which it was stored in a passenger's overhead compartment. A witness said that a flight attendant had ordered the pet owner to put the dog in the compartment before the plane took off.http://nyti.ms/2FABOlA

There's no way in hell a flight attendant is going to order me to do that with my dog. I'll get off the damn plane first. An apology from the airline isn't good enough, fire that lady immediately for animal abuse.

All the #airlines, including @Delta @united need to understand that our #pets are our #FAMILY and we fly with our pets! Make the changes necessary to reflect our desires. We are your customers. WE FLY WITH PETS PERIOD. Stop treating us all like DIRT!

This is heartbreaking. Any moron knows there is no air flow in the overhead bin. The flight attendant should be fired.

I’m sorry but if someone told me to put my dog in the overhead compartment I would get of the damn plane and sue them! I’m disappointed in United, the pet owner and any witness who did not SPEAK UP! This is AWFUL. Shame on @united 😡

OMG! What kind of person would instruct a passenger to put their family member in an overhead bin without air or water. Passengers trust the airlines to have their personnel to be educated, logical, & compassionate. I'm so sorry for the pain the family is experiencing. Sad loss.

@united you are losing many customers with your poor “service”. Your airline has the most pet deaths of any airline #BoycottUnitedAirlines #apologiesdontcutit

This is sickening, but the dog's owner is equally responsible. Our dogs depend on us to make decisions on their behalf. It's true in training, it's true with their health, and it's true here. #dog #dogs #doglovers

True. According to the article, she never even checked on the poor pup, even after it had gone silent. That's heartbreaking and disgusting. The pup is just as dependent on her as her child. No excuse.

instead of apologizing they should have fired and publicly shamed the employee
