Opinions differed widely by demographic. Those who belong to groups historically or currently in positions of power — white students, men or Republicans — tended to favor free speech. Nearly 2 in 3 students who were black, women or Democrats favored inclusivity.pic.twitter.com/X6izP9oIGh

The scary implied element here is that “diverse and inclusive” is antithetical to free speech.

True. In fact I would go so far as to say that "inclusive" means that every individual has the freedom to speak, and that without such universal inclusion diversity on every dimension is impossible.

Also the idea that “hate speech” is defined (it’s not), or that it is not protected under Free Speech. Deplatforming is a cancer. Walked past Pastors yelling how we were all going to hell almost everyday in college. We laughed and moved on. Some call it maturity. #FreeSpeech

How are you defining inclusivity that is contradicts free speech? Wouldn’t a truly diverse and inclusive society have to include that part of the spectrum which dislikes a diverse and inclusive society? Otherwise you are excluding people just because you disagree.

That's the point. If you can define speech you disagree with as antithetical to a diverse and inclusive society you can silence anyone you want in the name of inclusion.

Why on earth are free speech and inclusiveness pitted against each other as if they were alternatives? Free speech is a means to assure an inclusive and diverse society.
