Blam! IT WORKED! Business win. countries to the negotiation table now for their exemptions. I fkkin knew it.

What? LOL! Prices will increase and American steel will still see no rise.
-
I was saying earlier that the tariffs were a means to get into negotiations for what a country can do to earn an exemption. It puts the leverage to the US. That was my point. Not about prices of steel lol calm down with your doomsday scenarios.
-
That is a very convoluted way to initiate negotiations with allies. You assume that negotiations will go our way, why? We can literally not afford to produce certain things here in America. Which is why Trump went from "everyone will see this tariff" to "apply for exemptions
-
Now". As for steel prices, they will still increase, because there is a tariff on them. Whether everyone is exempt or not, other countries will raise their prices to hedge against another wild swing from Trump. Not to mention the other costs that will increase do to this,
-
When we have shown ourselves to be untrustworthy trade partners, we have threatened other countries economies and needs, so they will go elsewhere for their goods, while increasing prices for any goods we import from them. This is literally what history shows.
-
2015 numbers. US steel production = 79 million tonnes. US ore production = 46 m. It takes two tonne of ore to produce one tonne of steel. Leaving a deficit of of 112 m in ore for status quo. Wonder what will happen to the ore price to the US in a trade war?
-
We will certainly be making our trading partners wealthy. At our consumers expense of course.

Trump is an idiot who cares nothing for anything except his ego & what/who he can push around. So transparent.
-
Yo he has countries willing to negotiate different trade terms that can benefit many just to earn exemptions! It was a smart move. Hate aside its an accomplishment.

Putin is very grateful for the massive disruption Trump is bringing to long-standing treaty allies. He could not have scripted this better if he tried.

Ugh! Our news says we are in secret talks with Trump for an exemption. I feel dirty just reading that. Our lazy PM would crawl up Trump’s backside if he could. Whilst we need one, who knows what or who will be sacrificed to give your president his megalomaniacal fix.

50% of global steel production is in China, a country notorious for cheating in trade. If the Europeans tough out Trump's tariffs, they will benefit in the long run.
