10 years after a cancer diagnosis, one man is still tens of thousands of dollars in debt over the cost of a drug he needed to live. “I will be paying those up until the day I die,” he said.http://nyti.ms/2FUjVLf

LOL. As much as everyone loves to vilify Wal-Mart, as a former pharmacy tech not at Wal-Mart but their competitor, I can tell u you're mis-directing your outrage. The markup for RXs at store level is standard &reasonable. It's pharmaceutical cos that r gouging

I asked my husband's oncology nurse what people did before obamacare which was how we got insurance when my husband was dying. She said they took out loans, mortgaged their house, used credit cards, or went home, foregoing treatment, often dying of curable cancers.

When you have the chance, check 2 things. Check the population and the annual budget of the Canada, relative to that of the US, then come again.

It causes so much added stress in an already stressful time to have to worry about those bills.

Breaks my heart to see this in the richest country in the world. I live in Canada and was treated for cancer 18 years ago. I have no idea what that cost. My healthcare is free and I’ve never seen a bill.

Apparently you know very little about Canada. Research first before commenting. Of all of the responses your the only negative one. At least that’s a good sign.

Unacceptable that we have to go into deep debt just to live. Cancer is enough of a battle. Healthcare in this country gets worse and worse as GOP sabotages anything that keeps costs down or improves the situation.

As a Canadian, I can't grasp the concept of having to stress over being sick, or needing to visit the ER. It boggles my mind that Americans seem to reject our way of doing it. Sad.

Ya...ER bills...not something I've ever received...and I've gone to an ER for serious stuff at least 30 time's in my life. I can't imagine having to worry about the cost.

What? By the age of 10, I had spent more nights in a hospital bed, than my own bed... $0. If it cost money...my parents may not have taken me to the hospital as much and I would have died.
