At what point does the cost of living in a city become so outrageous that it is no longer a city but a playground for the rich with their "servant" housed in quarters, simply to have them available?#SanFranciscopic.twitter.com/DLPqNSw1Gv

Great! Work hard, do the right thing get to live like you're 18 again! Very sad commentary on the middle class today.

Most of us tried to move to the east bay and commute but it adds hours to the day. When 100 k became low income, we knew we were screwedhttp://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/04/24/bay-area-low-income-100000-san-francisco-san-mateo-county-hud/ …

where are the journalists living?

East Bay: Oakland, Vallejo etc taking the ferry to SF. Or commuting via car spending hours on the road.

I understand some people can't leave. But if I ever find myself in a city where a middle class salary/wage can't even get me a nice studio apartment, I'm taking the first bus out of town. No city in the world is worth this kind of financial anxiety.

My brother and his wife lived in SF, The Tenderloin area to be exact over 10 years. It was always “interesting”whenever my family would visit. Couldn’t believe how much they paid to live in a shoebox.
-
Tenderloin is rough in parts. I lived just a few blocks north in Hayes Valley. It's crazy expensive
-
It’s crazy expensive but I must admit SF is an amazing city, the whole Bay Area is

-
Definitely, But by the time the kids were 6 and 4, I just couldn't do it any more lol the city is definitely different when you're looking at schools etc.
-
Yep
that’s exactly why my brother left too! Raising kids there wasn’t an option

I was born in SF and got fed up with its cost of living, crime, ineffective city hall, filth & smug attitude and moved out in '97. Now in Sacramento I have a house for which I pay $1000/month for mortgage, taxes insurance & extra toward principal. I haven't been in SF since 2014.

Maybe San Francisco should deport all their damn illegal immigrants and illegal voters than there'd be some cheaper freed up housing for their own real citizens. Oh, what a concept, huh. Wake up California, they're the reason why you have such an affordable housing problem.
