A "school resource officer" is an unusual hybrid of counselor, educator and cop. Perhaps no other job better personifies America’s shifting ideas about schools, policing and safety.http://nyti.ms/2FcAwNl

Go on YouTube and watch some school cops at work. Snapping kids arms on purpose . Dozens of arm most for no reason just because they can then charge the bill to the tax payers. FTP...

How convienient. If they are BOTH school cop AND school councillor then the students have nobody to complain to if the school cop gets out if line.

I am a teacher in Australia we don't have armed people in our schools. Our students are not shot at. We have gun control and it works.

Jobs with many roles should be the exception not the rule. Knowing how to do three roles well requires three different skill sets. Should a person with a criminal justice degree be allowed to supply psychological advice to a human whose minds are still developing?

In 1991 our high school had a resource officer on campus who was a sheriff. This was a middle class school with excellent credentials in Northern California. I believe it stoked anger and mistrust. Not safety. Perhaps today's schools welcome them?
