Steve Bannon is in Italy to help build a broader populist movement throughout Europe. "The Italian people have gone farther, in a shorter period of time, than the British did for Brexit and the Americans did for Trump. Italy is the leader," he told NYThttp://nyti.ms/2oOR0A7

You should qualify what type of “populist “ movement this refers to. Populism isn’t inherently bad. Racist ethnic state populism would be a good qualifier .

You are absolutely right. The term “populism” is used as disinformation here, at the expense of the truth and the word “fascism. And why is this @nytimes writer giving Bannon a platform? Outrageous.

I read the article. It is part of a on going detailed series, describing the political landscape of Europe, specifically Italy. Mr Bannon is over in Italy (& other countries) pushing far right parties during an election. The NYT in NO WAY gave Bannon a platform. Read. Reporting.

Hmm. I’ve read the articles and I think the last 2 pieces constitute “disinformation” as defined by the #RussiaReport. Look at what is amplified through the quotes: a breezy, pro-Putin giddiness. Look at word choice: “meddling,” “high-jinks.” This is gloss; it’s propaganda lite.

We are paying attention. But except than show up for voting there is not much we can do. A government coalition between Berlusconi and Salvini would be a nightmare.
