I am 56. My mom captured our childhood on two shoe boxes full of super 8 film. We watched them relentlessly for years. We had them put on a dvd. Now with my parents and one of my sisters gone - they are more priceless than ever.

Correction - 8mm, not super 8.

I read it. When someone says "don't make the mistake I made", I find it useful to listen. Don't you?

My biggest piece of advice to new parents is "take lots of video, even when you're exhausted". Not only will you enjoy it, but when they're a little older, your kids will love seeing video of their younger selves.

I was that parent. Sorry. My kids are in their 20s now. I have taken all of the videos and digitized and also converted to .MOV format. It's a great legacy as long as they can watch it on their phones!
