Are all those hurdles keeping citizens safe or disarmed? I'll bet the latter.

It means people have to prove that they can help keep citizens safe while preventing unsafe people from owning guns. Makes it harder for bad folks to get guns. And when they do get them, the good ones with them know how to use them right and are responsible with them.

We have a Constitution.
-
So do we mate. Unfortunate yours has guns in it. Don’t see how the current situation is in any way ‘a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state...’
-
That’s an interpretation of the American Constitution that has never been given by Supreme Court. Your position amounts to saying: only if you are an agent of the government are you allowed to have a gun. That is not what the Constitution intended; to suggest it is dishonest
-
It’s odd that the interpretation has never included that given those are the literal words of the amendment. I will concede that I have to right to interpret what is up to the judiciary to interpret, however.
-
I suppose one could argue that by not taking a literal approach to interpretation that the SCOTUS is simply incredibly liberal in their approach to statutory interpretation. I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for educating me! I’ll go read the seminal cases on the amendment.

In our country, Malaysia only those who are rich can buy a gun. The reason is simple, to protect themself and the money they hv. Others until they died not afford to buy a gun, if they buy just a gun toy. So sad..

It took me longer and more ID to buy 3 fl oz of cough syrup this week and I’m sick than it takes to buy a gun.

Not sure where you live but I know people who went into a store and came out with a gun within ten minutes.

The U.S. is barely a step above Yemen’s gun policies. Yemen also has the highest population of people in need of humanitarian aid.
