The EU is like Hillary Clinton. It thinks its more important than it actually is.

I think holding 4 out of the 10 largest economies and the several of them being some our longest standing allies is a little important...

Problem w/tariffs is they are a reactionary market correction in the absence of international law and treaties that invariably trigger retribution and tommy-gun tactics, which is bad for business AND maintaining the peace.

Great point. While the economic benefits of free trade are vast, the peace that is driven by economic interdependence is perhaps the greatest benefit of all.

I just bought what it is going to be possibly my last car (I'm old) two years ago it is a #Subaru (made in Indiana), and I am glad I did the prices of all that stuff, washers, dryers, etc is going to go thru the roof. The U.S. imports more steel than it manufactures.

If only people just bought raw steel, and not the countless products that are made from steel, this tariff might just be a slightly less terrible idea (but still Barkley-esque turrble).

#TRUMP s pal billionaire Carl Icahn dumped millions of dollars in steel stock LAST WEEK before the tariff hike announcement, either the man has a magic glass ball, impeccable timing, or friends in high places, I go with the last one.

Guess I'd have to see the details, but if he was invested in US steel, wouldn't that actually go up as a result of this? (If he sold his stock in cars, washers & dryers, etc. I would scream "insider trading" with you)

Most the steel the U.S imports comes from #Canada but I can't answer your question since I am not privilege to Icahn's business affairs. I am not screaming insider trading, I am not even surprised I've been around long enough to know "money talks, bull shit walks"
