Done some reading and Ai WeiWei is wrong. No museum can stay open and free without someone footing the bills for it. 7 Million people are visiting but only 17% are paying the suggested fee. $25 Dollars sounds like a lot but it's for 3 days and for all 3 museums too.

I didn't know the policy was changing. We went a year ago from CO. loved our experience. But things cost money. That reality is never fun.

Yes, charge fixed fees to tap into the tourist trade. But h be discounts that favor the young, students and 55+. Have "free days." The ability to pay should be the last thing to keep people from experiencing art.

Such a ridiculous article. Pay as you wish still applies for NY, NJ, and CT visitors. If you’re visiting NY from out of town, then you have $25 to go.

All I know is that I paid $16 to go to the Louvre & that museum beats the Met by a country mile.

If you want to blame someone blame the people that take advantage of the pay what you want fees. How long can a museum stay open, and free, when they have a deficit of $40 million in a year but people aren't willing to pay more? Raise new minimum fees for tourists.
