You know how many schools in Chicago and many other cities have metal detectors, most of those schools are in rough neighborhoods. Maybe all schools should have them. May take longer to get in school, but there are students that never got to graduate.

Yes. The schools I worked in all had metal detectors at some point and doors were not accessible without a staff Id. It’s not pleasing to me that we had to have this but it is better than the alternative!!

There are only two sides of the argument, you either afford an individual the right to protect themselves with a firearm or you don't.

You claim to be a gun control advocate ... yet you recommend MORE guns? The solution to gun-related violence should lie in taking guns away from people ... not giving guns to MORE people

Why are there no Massacres at the Inner City Schools? Metal Detectors and Security. White Folks looking down their noses at Metal Detectors better think again.

How would a metal detector stop someone with an AR15 exactly? How about a big, really powerful magnet on the ceiling instead?

A Metal Detector is a deterrent. Just like the Locks on your Windows. The flashing light in your Car. The Bad Guy goes in because you invite him in by not paying attention. The Bad Guy goes elsewhere when you show him you are watching.

Hell why not let the kids have guns to protect themselves - I didn't see any age limitation in the constitution - being facetious of course but when you step back and look at this conversation you have to say what kind of society am I or have I created

The problem is , whatever security measures you deem to be necessary in Schools must also be equally avaiable in Churches , Universities , Hospitals , Shopping malls and any place where more than TWO PEOPLE gather .
